OK for me, not for thee?

I think we all knew that Democrats were willing to throw our National Security under the bus for political expediency on the campaign trail. But, did we think it they would flip flop so soon after Inauguration day?

One of the many “controversial” programs that President Bush ran was the rendition program. In the rendition program, the CIA was allowed to secretly abduct terrorists and transfer them and other prisoners to cooperating countries. This was one of the many programs that drew the cry of bloody murder from the Left for last few years. Here is an excerpt from a recent LA Times article “But the Obama administration appears to have determined that the rendition program was one component of the Bush administration’s war on terrorism that it could not afford to discard.”

I have two questions:

1. Will the Left simply gloss over this and forgive their new fearless leader?
2. Once in power, will the Obama administration abandon the reckless, hard core leftist rhetoric he used on the campaign trail?

My guess would be most likely yes and I hope so. One area that President Bush will be proven right through history is with National Security. He realized early on that something had to be done to stop the terrorists from attacking our country. He took the necessary steps to keep the country safe for 7 years. I’m not sure if anyone seriously thought that we would not have suffered another terrorist attack in 7 years after 9/11. One politician that I love is Vice President Cheney. I love his sharp political mind and his willingness to take the fight to the other side.   In a recent interview he said the following:

‘Protecting the country’s security is “a tough, mean, dirty, nasty business,” he said. “These are evil people. And we’re not going to win this fight by turning the other cheek.”’

(The rest of the interview is definitely worth reading.)

President Bush realized the truth in Cheney’s comments above fairly quickly. The sooner President Obama realizes it the better off we all are.
